Ground-Up Custom Home in Long Beach, CA

An old cottage stood on this Long Beach lot. We took it down to the dirt and built a new three-story custom home in its place, start to finish.

Architect: Ed Gulian, Gulian Design

Before

Before: the old cottage coming down.

After: the finished home, with the Elan truck out front.

Once demolition was done, we graded the cleared lot and got it ready for the new foundation.

Foundation

We formed the footings, set the rebar and placed hold-downs before the concrete went in.

Framing

The frame carries big beams tied together with steel hardware. Upstairs, Parallam PSL beams handle the long spans.

Finishes

Inside, the living room gets a lit 3D feature wall with wood slat panels and sconces. The walk-in shower is lined in an agate-look slab with brushed gold fixtures.
